I had an hard time figuring out if this zine was a pro-printed affair or just xeroxed but juding by the uneveness of black in the darkest pictures, it should be home printed. While not a juggernout as many other american ‘zines I have seen, P.o.D. looks quite good, is honest, and features 100% good extreme bands, be them Death Metal or NY Hate Core (I’m referring to INDECISION). I really share 99% of Jack’s views concerning the reviews and especially the infinite boredom of hearing ANGEL CORPSE is just a MORBID ANGEL rip-off, it’s really, really lame to hear becouse they were no doubt the best Death Metal band ever since the half of the nineties until they split up, and they’re interviewed first hand here. Main complaint I have to say is that there is so much wasted white space that if this ‘zine had a properly studied layout if could have been 15 pages shorter. I might be a fanatic of tiny fonts and crammed pages, but I guess you would find it a bit disturbing as well when you pick green stuff from your pockets and get 70% of what you expected. Add to my previous rant about wasted space that 8 pages out of 36 bear just letter-format ads and I’m sure you’ll get my point. Not really too much more to say. A handful of good interviews and some reviews written with tastes I share most of the time. Jack also plays in the band ADVERSARY (or at least used to when he wrote me some months ago), so ask for both his activities if you write him. A good ‘zine.
