While I’m a bit upset by the fact their logo is so similar to mine (the fact it’s been drawn by the same guy and we have the same first-half in the name helps), I must admit NUCLEAR WINTER plays closest you can imagine to BOLTTHROWER without being a complete rip off (it’s not easy to clone them however, but this is the first band that even TRIES to do it that I can think of). When the music starts to get in the fullest swing, though, the riffs become more UNLEASHED-style, chubby and packed full of triplet rhythms with some more melodic strokes. The vocals, which were the weakest spot in their full-length, now have become quite ok, while not outstanding, but it should be noted that they tend to become a bit worse in the end of their side (was the singer a bit tired? uhmm). While still Death Metal in the broadest meaning of the term, I didn’t shoot from the hip when I heard it for the first, nor second, nor third time. Different enough, and passionate, but not dazzling.
